Sixty-seven enthusiastic Wayland residents participated in the Wayland Center Architecture Walk, part of the town’s ongoing Rev. 250th commemorations. The guided stroll highlighted the rich architectural heritage of Wayland Center, sparking con-about preservation, design and local history.
Tour guide Gretchen Scahuler discussed the town’s history, highlighting the distinctive buildings and landmarks that reflect Wayland’s evolution from pre-Revolutionary times to the present day. The tour began at the Grout-Heard House, making a loop by walking south toward the First Parish Church, ending at the museum. Schuler showed photographs of buildings that no longer exist and included details on Wayland life during the Revolutionary days in her narrative.
Cider and cookies made with 1700s cookie recipes — a nostalgic nod to colonial hospitality — were a hit. Many toured the first floor of the museum to complete the day.
