Wayland’s historic center presents holiday events

The Wayland Free Library is collaborating with local groups to provide an afternoon filled with holiday cheer.

On Sunday, Dec. 7, 2 to 5 p.m., Wayland’s historic center will come alive with holiday festivities , as the Wayland Museum & Historical Society, Wayland Free Public Library, the Depot, and First Parish in Wayland present an assortment of seasonal music and fun activities.

The Holiday Open House at the Wayland Museum & Historical Society will feature festive greenery by the Wayland Garden Club, “precious pets” themed crafts by Wayland Girl Scout troops in the Stone Room alcove, and musical entertainment provided by two Wayland High School groups during the afternoon. A popular reception of tea, punch, and homemade baked cookies will be served. The younger audience can participate in a scavenger hunt. in the Wayland Museum & Historical Society rooms, while all visitors are encouraged to tour the historic house. Docents in each room will point out collection features.

The Wayland Free Public Library welcomes everyone to the Round Room to join local musician  Stacey Peasley,. for a festive holiday concert and sing-along at 3 p.m. Peasley is a music specialist, educator, and award-winning songwriter. Refreshments will be served courtesy of the Friends of the Wayland Library. 

First Parish will host a Community Holiday Singalong., featuring Maddie Sifantus, former director of the Golden Tones, at 4:30 p.m. The Sudbury Valley New Horizons Band, under the direction of Diane Muffitt, will accompany the singers. Santa will make his annual appearance around 5:30 p.m.

The Wayland Depot will be open from noon until 5 p.m. to shop for unique crafts, pottery, jewelry, holiday items, and Booster apparel.
