    Echoes of Liberty, a collaborative exhibition between Arts Wayland and the Wayland Historical Society & Museum, opens in May in honor of Americaโ€™s 250th anniversary. Artists were invited to create works inspired by ten historical artifacts connected to themes of liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness. A public reception will be held on May 9 from 3โ€“5 PM at the Arts Wayland Gallery (35 Andrew Ave, Wayland), where guest juror Christie Jackson, Curator and Director of Exhibitions at the Concord Museum, will select and announce ten artworks for display at the Museum during June and July.     On May 16, from 9 a.m. - 1p.m., bring us your old, tired, or just unneeded bike to Wayland Town Center, behind Ace Hardware, 70 Andrew Ave. The bikes will be delivered to the Lowell Bike Connector. The bikes will be fixed up and then distributed to kids and adults in need of low-cost, local transportation. (Please take severely rusted bikes that have been left outside to your local metal recycling bins.)     Learn about the American Revolution through the life of someone who was living on the fringes of society, struggling to make ends meet. Jane Mecom was born in Boston in 1712 and experienced the changing political climate while enduring turmoil in her personal life, including, living in poverty, her husband's death, and the loss of her children. Through surviving letters, we know that she experienced these trials in tandem.
