SUMMARY:Paws in the Park a Dog Friendly-Family Friendly Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 26th annual Paws in the Park will be held Sunday\, May 3rd from 10am-3pm (rain or shine) in the fields at Longfellow’s Wayside Inn. This dog friendly-family friendly event features contests and fun activities with your pup like trying an agility course\, a fetch competition\, littermate reunions\, doggy dress-up relay or bobbing for hot dogs. Delicious food trucks will be on site (even a doggy treat truck). Plus over 50 vendors including 15 rescue organizations. At noon there is a parade of adoptable dogs from various shelters in the area. It is a great family outing with a dog or without (or if you are thinking of adopting a pup or just want a dog-fix). Attendees would be supporting the continued rescue and high quality care that SaveADog provides.  We gratefully thank all the Waylanders who have supported and adopted from us in the past. So bring your family\, a buddy and a friendly dog and join the fun. Strollers welcome. 6′ leashes please (no retractable ones). Free parking. (SaveADog is a 501c3 tax exempt humane society\, right up Rt 20 located at 604 Boston Post Rd\, Sudbury.)

SUMMARY:Sunday Slice and Bingo Social
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Slice & Bingo Social is designed as an easy\, low-stress Sunday gathering that blends food\, fun\, and community into one relaxed afternoon. Hosted by Wayland Post\, the event invites families\, kids\, and older adults alike to come together for a casual\, social experience built around shared tables\, simple entertainment\, and a welcoming atmosphere. \nThe concept is straightforward: no cooking\, no pressure\, just show up and enjoy. Pizza\, popcorn\, drinks\, and a mix of beer and wine are available\, creating a laid-back “Sunday reset” where people can unwind\, connect\, and spend time with friends or meet new ones. \nAt its core\, the event is social first and structured second. Bingo provides the anchor activity\, easy to jump into\, familiar to all ages\, and naturally interactive\, but the real focus is on the shared experience around the tables. Groups can come as friends\, families\, or teams\, with a light competitive element through table-based play and prizes that keeps the energy up without making it intense. \nThe tone is intentionally modern and inclusive: bright\, casual\, and community-driven rather than formal or traditional. It draws on the long-standing appeal of local bingo nights\, historically successful in Wayland as sold-out\, family-centered gatherings with food\, prizes\, and volunteer-driven energy but updates it into a more flexible\, social format that works just as well for parents\, kids\, and older residents. \nHeld in the early afternoon\, the timing reinforces the goal: an easy Sunday plan. Come for pizza\, stay for the company.

SUMMARY:Conversations\, Not Confrontations
DESCRIPTION:This four-session workshop is all about building skills for real-life and online conversations—especially with people whose life experiences or perspectives differ from your own. Together\, we’ll practice how to show up with curiosity and self-awareness\, even when conversations feel uncomfortable or perspectives don’t align. \njamele adams\, an educator\, facilitator\, and community peacemaker\, will lead four in-person sessions where participants can practice empathetic listening\, learn from one another\, and build trust and connection. Together\, participants will choose the discussion topic for each session. \nBy the end\, you’ll have concrete tools to engage across differences—face-to-face and online. You’ll leave better equipped to navigate difficult conversations without losing connection. No matter who you are or where you’re coming from\, this workshop is a welcoming space to learn\, reflect\, and grow together—and to help make the Wayland community stronger. \nThe program will be held at First Parish\, 225 Boston Post Road\, Wayland. \nSponsored by the Wayland Public Schools and the Wayland Human Rights\, Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion Committee (HRDEIC)\, and made possible through the generous support of the Lydia Maria Child Fund of First Parish in Wayland.
