If you’re homebound due to a temporary or permanent disability, mobility challenge, or other health-related issue, now you can get circulating materials from the library delivered to your home—and returned when you’re done—all free of charge.
There are no age restrictions on using this service from the Wayland Free Public Library, and any resident who is unable to get to the library in person because of a temporary or permanent disability or health challenge is eligible.
The new home delivery service is funded by a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. As part of this grant, the library recently hired a new outreach services coordinator, Lindsey Warren.
In addition to requesting the delivery of specific books, users of this new service can request books in audio or other formats, magazines, movies on DVD and Blu-ray, and music CDs. Library staff can select materials by title or author, or they can select a variety of materials based on users’ reading interests and preferences.
To use this new service, residents can:

- Use the sign-up form on the library’s website (https://waylandlibrary.org/services/homebound/)
- Fill out a form available at the library’s circulation desk. After signing up for the service, users will be contacted to provide information on their reading or other preferences and to schedule their initial delivery.
The library is also seeking volunteer home delivery drivers to help deliver materials.
