Wildfire risk increases due to dry outdoor conditions

Dry weather and occasionally high winds have greatly increased the risk of wildfires throughout the region, and residents should be sure not to do any outdoor burning, said Fire Chief Neil McPherson.

“The conditions are, unfortunately, conducive to wildfire outbreaks, and people should be aware and take precautions,” McPherson said.

On Friday, Nov. 8, the state fire marshal issued a wildfire risk warning “over the next couple days, at a minimum.”

“Combinations of low relative humidity, wind, and critically dry dead fuel moistures are really going to amplify fire behavior and spread potential,” the marshal’s office warned.
