Wayland honored all those who served with a 2025 Veterans Ceremony on Nov. 11, inside at the Town Building gym instead of the Veterans Memorial due to cold weather.

The program began with a performance of the National Anthem sung by Maggie Agyeman, followed by posting of colors and the salute of the flag. Invocation was given by Deacon McGary of Good Shepard Parish.

Richard P. Turner, USN Retired, chair of the Public Ceremonies Committee and Purple Heart Recipient, and Select Board Member Anne Brensley gave the welcoming remarks. MA House Representative David Linsky spoke of his family connection to public service and how not only does the individual serve but their whole family participates with them, and deserve our thanks and support.

LTC Rueben T. Joseph, product manager at Force Sustainment Systems of US Army Soldier System Center in Natick, was this yearโ€™s keynote address speaker and reiterated that service is a family affair and thanked all. The Waylandโ€™s Freedom Prize award certificate and $500 was presented to the parents of Cadet Graham Henrich, who currently attends U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

Wayland High School Honors Trumpet Trio Noa Ferdman, Nishanth Bangalore, and Joe Oneschuk performed and were followed by a reading of the names of Wayland residents who died while serving. The ceremony moved outside for the wreath laying and the American Legion Post #133 Rifle Salute before concluding with the Benediction.
