During the week of Oct. 10-16, the Wayland Police and Fire departments conducted 32 motor vehicle stops, and responded to reports of motor vehicle crashes (6), suspicious motor vehicles (6), road hazards (4), suspicious activity (4), noise complaints (3), larceny (3), disturbances (2), suspicious persons (2), wires down (2), gas leaks (2), phone/internet scams (2), harassment/stalking (1), a fire alarm (1), property damage (1), computer crime (1) and a civil matter (1). Wayland public safety personnel assisted other departments with four incidents.

  • Thursday, Oct. 10
    • Wires down. The Fire Department responded at 11:45 a.m. to a report of electrical wires down at a utility pole at the intersection of Commonwealth Road (Route 30) and Willow Brook Drive. Eversource was notified.
  • Friday, Oct. 11
    • Crash. A two-car accident was reported at 10:29 a.m. at the intersection of Boston Post Road (Route 20) and Andrew Avenue.
    • Assist Weston PD with hit-and-run incidents.  Beginning at 11:45 a.m., Wayland police assisted Weston cops with locating vehicles involved in two separate hitq-and-run-incidents. Both suspect vehicles were reportedly SUVs, but license plate information was not provided to police. No progress finding either vehicle was reported.
    • Natural gas leak. At 1:55 p.m. fire personnel investigated a report of an odor of natural gas at the intersection of Sycamore and Woodland roads. A โ€œslightโ€ odor was confirmed by fire officials at the scene, and the gas company was notified.
    • Bicycle-car crash. A bicyclist received minor injuries and was treated at Newton-Wellesley Hospital following an accident with a van at 3:19 p.m. at the intersection of Cochituate Road (Route 27) and Green Way.
    • Noise complaint. Police received a noise complaint at 5:05 p.m., claiming โ€œyouths riding a motorized bike/dirt bikeโ€ on Joyce Road.
    • Hit and run reported. Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash with no injuries at 5:31 p.m. in the Stop and Shop parking lot on Andrew Avenue at Wayland Town Center.
    • Disturbance. A report of a loud motorized bike riding on Plain Road was investigated by police, who reported that the bike had subsequently disappeared down the nearby rail trail.
  • Saturday, Oct. 12
    • Speeding motor vehicle. Police investigated a report of a red Ford Mustang speeding at more than 100 mph northbound at 1:28 a.m. on Cochituate Road (Route 27) near the intersection with Boston Post Road (Route 20). The speeding car failed to stop for police and Sudbury police were notified.
    • Road hazards. Wayland police assisted with a dead tree limb in the roadway on Pelham Island Road at 11:06 a.m. After moving the limb to the side of the road, police notified the DPW. Separately, another tree was reported in the roadway on Concord Road (Route 126) at 11:29 a.m.
    • Motor vehicle accident. A hit-and run car crash at the intersection of Concord Road (Route 126) and Old Sudbury Road (Route 27) was reported to police at 3:13 p.m.
    • Suspicious activity. At 6:07 p.m. a Glezen Lane resident called police to report that three boys rang the doorbell to her home and then fled across the street to the front yard of a neighboring home.
  • Sunday, Oct. 13
    • Suspicious motor vehicle. Police responded at 8:40 p.m. to a report of a car traveling at โ€œhigh rates of speedโ€ on Snake Brook Road, โ€œup and down the street.โ€ The vehicle reportedly struck a mailbox. After investigating, the officer notified the resident who had called police.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 15
    • Road hazard. Police assisted with a report of a loose manhole cover on the Boston Post Road (Route 20) โ€œflatsโ€ near the entrance to the Transfer Station at 12:30 p.m. After an officer placed a traffic cone as a warning to other drivers, the state Highway Department was notified.
    • Suspicious person. At 5:43 p.m., police received a report of a girlโ€”approximately 14 years old with โ€œlightishโ€ hairโ€”hitchhiking near the Coach Grill on Boston Post Road (Route 20).
  • Wednesday, Oct. 16
    • Warrant arrest. After a motor vehicle stop on Commonwealth Road (Route 30) at 12:20 a.m. by Wayland police, Framingham resident Sirene Abadia DaSilva, 54, of 9 Richardson Circle, Apt. 2, Framingham, MA 01702, was arrested and charged on an outstanding warrant. Police reported that DaSilva was bailed at 2:40 a.m.
    • Larceny. A Longfellow Health Club (524 Boston Post Road) staff member reported an incident of bank-account fraud to police at 10:08 a.m.
    • Motor vehicle accident. A two-car accident was reported at 5:14 p.m. at the North Cemetery, 65 Old Sudbury Road (Route 27).Wires down. Police received a report at 6:47 p.m. of a large tree down on wires on Lincoln Road. Verizon was notified.
