Sept. 26-Oct. 2
During the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 3, the Wayland Police and Fire departments conducted 39 motor vehicle stops, and responded to reports of motor vehicle crashes (5), road hazards (4), suspicious motor vehicles (2), fire alarms (2), suspicious activity (1), a suspicious person (1), and harassment/stalking (1). Wayland public safety personnel assisted other departments with four incidents.
Thursday, Sept. 26
Road Hazard. A Davelin Road resident called police at 3:13 p.m, to report that a motorist was working on their car on the side of the road, and the caller was concerned for their safety.
Friday, Sept. 27
Car accident. A two-car accident at the corner of Winter and South streets was reported at 8:04 a.m.
Outdoor fire. At 10:28 a.m. the Fire Department responded to a report of logs on fire in the middle of the road at the intersection of School Street and Rt. 27/Main Street. The fire was dealt with and Eversource was notified.
Road hazard. Police received a report at 4:58 p.m. of a tree down and blocking the sidewalk at Pequot Road and Maiden Lane. The town DPW was notified.
Saturday, Sept. 28
Car accident. A two-car accident at Cochituate State Park Headquarters on Commonwealth Road was reported at 2:15 p.m.
Suspicious activity. At 3:48 pm police received a call claiming that three people “appear to be living” at Lakeview Cemetery on Rt. 30/Commonwealth Road. Police spoke to the individuals, and they left.
Sunday, Sept. 29
Car accident. Police responded at 1:18 p.m. to a two-car accident on Rt. 27/Cochituate Road.
Suspicious person, protective custody: At 7:47 p.m. a caller reported that a man opened a car door in a Rt. 27/Main Street driveway, entered the car, and was reportedly sleeping. The Omaha, Nebraska man was taken into protective custody by Wayland Police and charged with breaking and entering into the vehicle.
Monday, Sept. 30
Fire alarm: The Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in a second-floor hallway on Loker Street. After conducting a walk-through, firefighters reported that no problems were found.
Car accident. A two-car accident at the Wayland Middle School, Rt. 27/197 Main St., was reported at 3:02 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 2
Fire alarm. Firefighters responded to a fire alarm activation on Woodridge Road at 3:37 a.m. No smoke or fire was report.
Road hazard. Police received a report of a “very large” boulder in the roadway on Old Connecticut Path at 5:22 a.m. the hazard was removed by officers.Car accident. Fire and police personnel responded to the scene of a two-car accident on Rt. 27/Cochituate Road at 8:37 a.m.
