As the spring sports season comes to a close, several Wayland High School teams made runs through the MIAA state tournaments. From championship appearances to Final Four finishes, the Warriors capped off the year with standout performances across multiple sports.

Girls’ tennis reaches state final

The girls’ tennis team delivered one of the strongest postseason showings of the spring. After defeating Notre Dame Academy 4-1 in the Division 2 Final Four, the team advanced to the state championship match. There, they battled #1-ranked Longmeadow in a hard-fought contest but ultimately fell 3-2, finishing the season as state runners-up.

Boys’ volleyball Falls just short

The boys’ volleyball team also earned a trip to the Division 2 state championship. After a 3-1 victory over Westfield in the Final Four, the Warriors faced top-seeded Agawam in the final.

Despite a strong showing, they lost 3-1, ending an outstanding playoff run as Division 2 finalists.

Girls’ lacrosse battles in Final Four

Girls’ lacrosse advanced to the Division 3 Final Four with dominant early-round wins, including a 21-5 victory over Chicopee, a 16-3 win over Old Rochester, and a nail-biting 11-10 quarterfinal win over Foxborough. In the semifinals, the Warriors faced Medfield and fell 14-11 in a tight matchup. Medfield went on to win the Division 3 state championship.
