Ignas Jonas Vileniskis, 80, of Wayland, died on August 5, 2025 at his Wayland residence surrounded by his family following a period of declining health.


He was born in Franhenhauser, Germany, the son of the late Ignas Vileniskis and Janina (Venslovas) Vieniskis. Ignas is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy J. (Glover) Vileniskis of Wayland and was the father of Stacy Hutchins and her husband Jonathan Hutchins of HopkintonHe was the grandfather of Cameron Hutchins of York, Maine, and Hannah Hutchins of Hopkinton, and brother of Genevieve Vileniskis of Yarmouthport and George Vileniskis of Tampa, Fla.


Ignas was a resident of Wayland for over 46 years and previously resided in Somerville and Woburn after he came to the U.S. from Germany. He attended Boston University and, for many years prior to retirement, was the president of Glover Sheet Metal, Inc. in Newton.


He was an active member of the Patriots Golf Course in Bedford where he played in the Bedford Golf League. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed those times with his friends. He loved being on the Cape Cod beaches especially West Yarmouth with his family and friends and captaining his boat “Grady White” on the ocean. He was a longtime member and active supporter of the South Boston Lithuanian Club.


The most important aspect of Ignas’s life was his family, especially being with his grandchildren and attending all of their activities. He will be remembered for always helping others and dedicating his life to his family.


Memorial visitations will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home (56 Pemberton Road, Wayland). In lieu of flowers, his family kindly suggests that gifts in his memory be sent to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215 (dana-farber.org) to benefit breast cancer research.
