WaylandCAN to Host Award-Winning Writer Dylan Marron for Community Conversation on Bridging Divides
Wayland, MA — February 23, 2026, Wayland Community Action Network (WaylandCAN) will host award-winning writer and producer Dylan Marron for a community-wide event on Monday, March 30th 7- 8:30 p.m. at the Wayland High School Auditorium. The evening event will focus on how to engage in respectful conversations across differences, an especially timely topic in light of recent events in town.
WaylandCAN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fostering connection and belonging in Wayland through education, dialogue, and shared experiences. Formed in November 2023 following a series of hate crimes in the community, WaylandCAN was created by residents committed to transforming moments of division into opportunities for deeper understanding and unity.
Dylan Marron is the creator and host of the acclaimed podcast “Conversations with People Who Hate Me,” in which he calls individuals who left him negative online comments to have honest, human conversations. His work has been recognized by USA Today, The Guardian, and Fast Company, and the podcast won a Webby Award. His book, Conversations with People Who Hate Me, was praised by the Associated Press as “a fascinating meditation on human connection and on finding common ground with people you never thought possible.” His TED Talk, “Empathy is Not Endorsement,” has been viewed millions of times worldwide. Marron is also a writer for the critically acclaimed series Ted Lasso.
“This event is about equipping our community with tools to engage across differences with curiosity and respect,” said a Caroline Higgins, co-Founder of WaylandCAN. “We believe that fostering connection is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen our town.”
