Town “is dismissing” bridge suggestions

To the Editor:

I have been a Sherman’s Bridge Road resident for 33 years — one of the longer-term residents. I’ve read with interest all the various communications my friends and neighbors have submitted, re: what should be done about the rehabilitation of the actual Sherman Bridge. I’ll admit I’m a bit confused why there is so much dialogue and back and forth between residents and town departments about the plan to rebuild and renovate Sherman Bridge and the road — the street I live on.
A huge plus of living in Wayland is we are a very engaged and concerned body of citizens. We have given the plans your organizations have developed for the rehabilitation of Sherman’s Bridge much thought and analysis. After much deliberation, we came back to you with some serious recommendations about what should be done. But it seems to me and many of my neighbors that you have different plans! This doesn’t seem right to me; sorry, but it seems like you’re dismissing the input of those people who live on and around Sherman Bridge Road without, as far as I can tell, any analysis and explanation that answers the concerns of us residents.
My neighbors and other residents of the area have more than adequately outlined concerns and suggestions. I would hope — no, make that expect — a proper explanation of, in the end, the final actions both your boards take.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this message.
