Public Forum on Accessory Dwelling Units

November 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

A new state law has made it easier for Massachusetts homeowners to create a second smaller dwelling unit on their property. Known as Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), these small apartments can be free-standing; reconfigured out of the home’s existing space; be an extension to the existing home; or created through a garage conversion or addition.
Speakers will include individuals with specialized knowledge and various town officials and committee members who will help homeowners understand the new law and the steps they would need to follow to create an ADU on their property.
ADUs can provide extra income for the homeowner, provide housing to a family member or a friend, accommodate an in-home health care aide or assistant, or add to the stock of affordable housing. Whatever the purpose, ADUs can be part of the solution to the current housing shortage.Wayland Town Building, former Council on Aging room.
