We also have one response where the Scottish festival is not going to happen. Yeah. And we have that, I think we granted them $850 and that will be left over for us for the 2027 cycle, if I'm not mistaken, Noresh. Is that correct?

And so the denied people also got notified. So everybody's notified now and that's all done. I have submitted the final paperwork to the Mass Cultural Council. I submitted it way before, ahead of time. So we're all set there. Nothing else to do except for plan when we want to have the grantee reception.
Quick question, Varia Prabhavi. If we give a grant to something like the Scottish festival and we find out it's not happening, can we then turn around and give it to somebody we denied or no? Not anymore. If they had responded to me before the 15th of January, I could have reallocated that money. But our grant closes on the 15th of January, so we can no longer reallocate that money. But it will be in our funds for the 2027 cycle. Okay. Okay. All right. Thank you. And what about Polly, about the pool?

Um, the other thing is narration wanted to ask, um, we have is for the reception, do we have other funds or are we using it from this thousand thirty-five? No, we should have other funds. We should have, um, $350 I think that's for, uh, administrative and, um, it can't go to a project. It has to go to things like, uh, granted reception and things like that. Okay.
Okay. Um, and if we need to, if we decide, so can we use part of this 10, uh, thousand thirty-five for the reception? I mean, no, I don't think you can. Well, I just, uh, kind of a quick follow-up question. Uh, so I can brainstorm for the February conversation about what we can get involved in. Um, are you looking for something that we do on our own or, or in conjunction with someone else? Either, either or, right? So if there's something that we can do on our own, um, we, we should, um, if not, um, could we reserve a nominal sum in case something from Wayland comes up, you know, because it is the way, isn't it 250 or something this year? I don't know. Yeah. Wayland 250. I mean, it's yeah. Um, 250 years of independence or whatever. Um, so I don't know, but yeah. Yeah. I'm looking at the, uh, minutes from November 12th. Uh, and the potential projects we identified was a rail trail bench, the HRDIC. That's not happening. Yeah. Echoes of Liberty exhibition at the Wayland museum. That was the three things that we identified in that, uh, meeting. And, um, so we did not identify this particular project. So can you look at the, uh, number 12 meeting and you can then, okay. I mean, we can change, but, uh, this project high school wasn't, uh, wasn't identified. This was a historical society anyway. So, yeah, I'm, I'm flexible with that too. So. Okay. So let me talk to this lady tomorrow and see what she has to say. And in the meantime, I need to pull out the, the, yes, I know that, um, echoes of Liberty. So I'm going to, um, Oh, it, it is the 20, 50, 20, 60 participation. Great. Okay. So, um, to answer your question, Maurice, we are already thinking about that. So that's the echoes of Liberty thing. I will dig up that email and, um, ask her for a quick, um, or the person I'll ask them for a quick, um, status on that and what they need to, what we need, what we can do. I found the email too. So, okay. She hasn't responded. I responded to her, um, after. So this is Scarlett Hui. And I did respond to her saying that we, we would be happy to discuss this with her. But, um, I haven't heard back. So that was November 12th when I responded to her. So let me just catch up with her and see what, what she has to say.
Can I just say, my name is spelled on the Zoom. So that means that whoever, uh, does the, um, the AI report will probably get it wrong. And so can you just change it? I will. No, I will put an addendum for, for this, um, this month's meeting that, um, HRDIC is not happening and instead, um, this mural project has been added to our list. Okay. Nice. Yeah. Okay. So we still have three things that we can, we can, um, support and I will go down all three paths and see where they lead us. Um, uh, but I have just a quick follow-up question. How do we, how do we draw the line or understand when are we, um, like what are the criteria that would identify that we are co-sponsoring an event and we can use that money versus funding someone else's event as in, as if it's a part of the grant cycle? Correct. So, uh, the, um, the way they word it needs to be different, right? Like, so we are not, so they, they aren't, so basically if it's a grant, they will say that this is funded partly by a grant from the Wayland Cultural Council. Whereas if you're co-sponsoring it, they will have to say this is co-sponsored by the Wayland Cultural Council.
Okay. Can you give me an example of past things that the Cultural Council co-sponsored just so I can, uh, know what kind of things are we looking at? Um, yes, absolutely. So the, um, HRDIC, um, the first time they did it, we co-sponsored, you know, the very first time they, they did the multicultural thing, we co-sponsored, and then the second time they applied for a grant and then the third time they didn't, but, um, we were still there as a presence. So, um, that's the difference. So one other thing, uh, usually, uh, for the 1,035 fund, uh, we select a theme and, and sponsor, uh, things based on that theme. Like, uh, like painting the mail, painting the boxes, right? We, uh, I think the last year or two years ago, we selected peace and, uh, year before that we selected harmony or diversity or something like that. Right. So, um, I think we should select some sort of, uh, a philosophy or a theme for the projects we want to sponsor, uh, and do that. You know, it could be, um, what, what is the theme that the mural is going for? What, what are they, what are they celebrating? Right. And, and stuff like that. So I think the, um, the Valen, uh, 300 year anniversary or whatever, they're celebrating history, right? So our team could be history and say, or if you want to sponsor a history project or some, you know, we should have some theme and, um, that, that, that the team agrees on. And then you say, okay, that, that fits our theme. So we should do that. Yeah, I'm happy to do that. Um, I think the historical commission is also kind of showcasing history. So that will be, um, that will be something that we can definitely say. Um, yeah, at any rate, I like the idea of you coming back and saying, all right, this, the mural people want, you know, 500 bucks or something like that. And they want us to help paint the mural or something, right. Or something, whatever they want. And then you can say, oh, the bench, the trail people said, okay, bring a bench and, and make sure it's whether it's, it stands weather, right. Or something. And then the bench costs $700, you know, some, something, um, something where that. Right. You can, yeah. So if there's a project that someone champions, right. And then you go forward with that kind of way. Yeah. So let me find out from the three people, the, the historical commission, um, the mural outside the pool and echoes of Liberty. Echoes of Liberty is very straightforward, but I, I want to, um, restart a, uh, a conversation with her, then I would ideally want one of us to kind of work with a team, a group to make that happen. But let's, um, go down that road in February when we finally get our heads together about what we're doing and, and, and, and, and, and things like that. I like the idea of history. Does anybody else have any other? Other, um, um, only thing I have is, um, I, I would rather wait till you talk to her because before I, but I'm thinking that they may be looking something along community. So you'll get, you can talk to her tomorrow. Why not? And see how, you know, it can fit in or we can, can, can we come back to this next month? Maybe. Absolutely. Absolutely. Just connect the, the dots or the threads or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, history and community, we can definitely find some common binding theme between them because the mural is about the, you know, the history of what happened at the Bailen pool, right? With the, with the hate graffiti and stuff. So they want to, um, address that, you know, in a much more, um, community bonding way. So we can definitely kind of bring that into the, into the idea of how, um, how, um, how, um, how, um, historically how Wayland has been a strong community. So the, the, uh, project, the echoes of Liberty project, which is like a, uh, collection that they want to exhibit in, in the Wayland, um, museum and the bench where we can talk about the history of the trail trail and, and what maybe, you know, have a, have a, um, have it painted in a way that shows what the community looked like back then, or some such thing, right? Like, we can definitely come up with a theme that both blends history and, and the idea of the Wayland community together. You know, do a train and that kind of like fades into bicycles.
Right. Right. I mean, we, we can be very creative about this, right? So, um, yeah. But, uh, it will be, it will be fun. And, and it's, you know, hopefully by the time we get our heads around all of this, some good weather will start coming. So it'll be fun for all of us to kind of get ourselves involved in this outdoor projects.

Um, you know, she wants it for Bumika Arts versus her. Uh, so I'm going to say no to Bumika Arts. I'm going to say you signed it in here. Okay. Got it. Yeah. Yeah. Um, we did not fund Bumika Arts. So she cannot have a check by, for that name. We funded, uh, the Wayland, um, did she, did she, um, I think it was the Wayland Indian Association that she had filed for. So unless they have an organization by that name that we can cut a check to, it needs to be her name because she is the officer. Okay.
She can take any of this on there, correct? I mean. Yeah. I mean, her name is fine. It's, it's not, it's not going to be, um, a problem.

Or seem, yeah, monitorly unreasonable in, in any, by any chance. I'm, I'm sure they'll be happy with how much ever we want to give them, but, um, just in case that happens, we can always fall back on an alternative. Um, okay. The other thing that I want all of you to think about is a good day for having the grantee reception. Uh, we'll plan it a little bit, um, maybe in April sometime. That may be a good, good time. We usually do it in May, but maybe April will be a good time for us to do it. Um, but. Uh, what about the, uh, the students exam periods? I don't know when they are, do we try to avoid those? Yeah. Yeah. So that's usually in the last week and first last week of April, first week of May. Okay. Thank you. So I, if we do it like in the second week of April or the second week of May, both will work, but, um, let's think about that. And, um, I will, you know, in my, when I send out the, um, meeting notes, I will specifically ask our two student liaisons to think about the date and get back to us, um, just in case they can't attend the next meeting, but let's, um, for next time, let's, the, the two things that I want definitely on the agenda are the, are, um, um, um, cultural council funded initiatives and the, um, reception, the grantee reception.
Uh, and another thing, just because I, um, I got invited. Another town is having a, um, a grantee zoom call to go over how to submit reimbursement, which I thought was very interesting. I haven't attended it. I, I am going to attend it, um, being one of the recipients and, um, I will bring back some information from that and see going forward if we want to do something like that. Um, because often, you know, we get this, the whole reason why this, this particular one, that narration I were discussing is so late is that they didn't know how to submit for reimbursement. And it often happens. People say we've sent this and we, we get back to them and say, yes, but you didn't do this, this, and this. So, um, kind of think about whether it's a good idea for us to do that, to like have a grantee zoom session to go over reimbursements. Short of that, we can also give them a link on the procedures. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We should probably write it down and post it somewhere. So it's readily available to us. Can it be going off of that? What is it? Go ahead, Mary. I was just saying the example, uh, we can't add it to the acceptance letter because that comes from the state. Correct? Correct. Correct. So, um, I, I, I try to, I mean, there's very little space in that acceptance letter where I can customize it. Okay. And I typically kind of, uh, put some things around, I mean, if you've read that it's, it's a very stock thing. And I put a couple of lines about our theme and how their project fulfills our theme. And that's the only thing that I kind of change. But we can't put any links or things like that. It's okay. So, yeah, so, um, what I thought we could do is either do that or at the reception, we could go over the reimbursement procedure. And by then, if we can have something written down, then we can also share that with them. And I thank them for attending the reception. I say, by the way, here's the, here's a link to the instructions if anybody missed it. So we could do that too, but let's put that on the agenda for next week too, so we can talk about it. Kind of tell you my experience attending this other town's meeting. Uh, Pahlavi, I was going to say for the reception and I'm, I'm, you know, only attended one partially, so I'm not sure how they start even hysterically been done. Um, but I'm wondering if we can use it as an opportunity to expose the town more to the, to this, you know, available grant, uh, that we have. So possibly holding something in a bigger space, like the new, you know, Council on Aging building. No, definitely. Yeah, I want to move it to the new, new space. Um, yeah. And then, um, like maybe have like a mini information, information session about how to actually apply for the next cycle. And I just, we can, uh, if I'm not mistaken, Nuresh was, you were saying we have like $350, 350 for that. Yeah. For administrative fund. I think it's, I think it's 350 or so. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so, I mean, we can advertise it as a comment, learn about this thing, and then they will hear the experience from, uh, from the past grantees. I just think it's a good opportunity and it will incentivize other people in town who, you know, have ideas in mind, but looking for funds. Yeah. Um, you know, we can also possibly like have it, have WICAM also broadcast that it would just be helpful. You know, a lot of people don't even know about, uh, the council and the available grant. Maybe it could be a kind of a meet and greet with the grantees and we can offer some of those things. Yeah. So typically we ask a couple grantees to present, um, what they're planning to do, or if they've already done it by then kind of present what they've done. Um, but definitely we can, we can expand on it. Um, I'd love to hear your ideas and how to make this happen. So definitely bring all of those ideas and thoughts to the meeting next week. So we can talk about it. We don't have to like finalize everything next week. All I want to kind of think about is the date and then start planning for that, right? Well, I just, uh, kind of a quick follow-up question. Uh, so I can brainstorm for the February conversation about what we can get involved in. Um, are you looking for something that we do on our own or, or in conjunction with someone else? Either, either or, right? So if there's something that we can do on our own, um, we, we should, um, if not, um, could we reserve a nominal sum in case something from Wayland comes up, you know, because it is the way, isn't it 250 or something this year? I don't know. Yeah. Wayland 250. I mean, it's yeah. Um, 250 years of independence or whatever. Um, so I don't know, but yeah. Yeah. I'm looking at the, uh, minutes from November 12th. Uh, and the potential projects we identified was a rail trail bench, the HRDIC. That's not happening. Yeah. Echoes of Liberty exhibition at the Wayland museum. That was the three things that we identified in that, uh, meeting. And, um, so we did not identify this particular project. So can you look at the, uh, number 12 meeting and you can then, okay. I mean, we can change, but, uh, this project high school wasn't, uh, wasn't identified. This was a historical society anyway. So, yeah, I'm, I'm flexible with that too. So. Okay. So let me talk to this lady tomorrow and see what she has to say. And in the meantime, I need to pull out the, the, yes, I know that, um, echoes of Liberty. Can I just say, my name is spelled on the Zoom. So that means that whoever, uh, does the, um, the AI report will probably get it wrong. And so can you just change it? I will. So we still have three things that we can, we can, um, support and I will go down all three paths and see where they lead us. Um, uh, but I have just a quick follow-up question. How do we, how do we draw the line or understand when are we, um, like what are the criteria that would identify that we are co-sponsoring an event and we can use that money versus funding someone else's event as in, as if it's a part of the grant cycle? Correct. So, uh, the, um, the way they word it needs to be different, right? Like, so we are not, so they, they aren't, so basically if it's a grant, they will say that this is funded partly by a grant from the Wayland Cultural Council. Whereas if you're co-sponsoring it, they will have to say this is co-sponsored by the Wayland Cultural Council.
Okay. Can you give me an example of past things that the Cultural Council co-sponsored just so I can, uh, know what kind of things are we looking at? Um, yes, absolutely. So the, um, HRDIC, um, the first time they did it, we co-sponsored, you know, the very first time they, they did the multicultural thing, we co-sponsored, and then the second time they applied for a grant and then the third time they didn't, but, um, we were still there as a presence. So, um, that's the difference. So one other thing, uh, usually, uh, for the 1,035 fund, uh, we select a theme and, and sponsor, uh, things based on that theme. Like, uh, like painting the mail, painting the boxes, right? We, uh, I think the last year or two years ago, we selected peace and, uh, year before that we selected harmony or diversity or something like that. Right. So, um, I think we should select some sort of, uh, a philosophy or a theme for the projects we want to sponsor, uh, and do that. You know, it could be, um, what, what is the theme that the mural is going for? What, what are they, what are they celebrating? Right. And, and stuff like that. So I think the, um, the Valen, uh, 300 year anniversary or whatever, they're celebrating history, right? So our team could be history and say, or if you want to sponsor a history project or some, you know, we should have some theme and, um, that, that, that the team agrees on. And then you say, okay, that, that fits our theme. So we should do that. Yeah, I'm happy to do that. Um, I think the historical commission is also kind of showcasing history. So that will be, um, that will be something that we can definitely say. Um, yeah, at any rate, I like the idea of you coming back and saying, all right, this, the mural people want, you know, 500 bucks or something like that. And they want us to help paint the mural or something, right. Or something, whatever they want. And then you can say, oh, the bench, the trail people said, okay, bring a bench and, and make sure it's whether it's, it stands weather, right. Or something. And then the bench costs $700, you know, some, something, um, something where that. Right. You can, yeah. So if there's a project that someone champions, right. And then you go forward with that kind of way. Yeah. So let me find out from the three people, the, the historical commission, um, the mural outside the pool and echoes of Liberty. Echoes of Liberty is very straightforward, but I, I want to, um, restart a, uh, a conversation with her, then I would ideally want one of us to kind of work with a team, a group to make that happen. But let's, um, go down that road in February when we finally get our heads together about what we're doing and, and, and, and, and, and things like that. I like the idea of history. Does anybody else have any other? Other, um, um, only thing I have is, um, I, I would rather wait till you talk to her because before I, but I'm thinking that they may be looking something along community. So you'll get, you can talk to her tomorrow. Why not? And see how, you know, it can fit in or we can, can, can we come back to this next month? Maybe. Absolutely. Absolutely. Just connect the, the dots or the threads or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, history and community, we can definitely find some common binding theme between them because the mural is about the, you know, the history of what happened at the Bailen pool, right? With the, with the hate graffiti and stuff. So they want to, um, address that, you know, in a much more, um, community bonding way. So we can definitely kind of bring that into the, into the idea of how, um, how, um, how, um, how, um, historically how Wayland has been a strong community. So the, the, uh, project, the echoes of Liberty project, which is like a, uh, collection that they want to exhibit in, in the Wayland, um, museum and the bench where we can talk about the history of the trail trail and, and what maybe, you know, have a, have a, um, have it painted in a way that shows what the community looked like back then, or some such thing, right? Like, we can definitely come up with a theme that both blends history and, and the idea of the Wayland community together. You know, do a train and that kind of like fades into bicycles.
Right. Right. I mean, we, we can be very creative about this, right? So, um, yeah. But, uh, it will be, it will be fun. And, and it's, you know, hopefully by the time we get our heads around all of this, some good weather will start coming. So it'll be fun for all of us to kind of get ourselves involved in this outdoor projects.

Uh, and another thing, just because I, um, I got invited. Another town is having a, um, a grantee zoom call to go over how to submit reimbursement, which I thought was very interesting. I haven't attended it. I, I am going to attend it, um, being one of the recipients and, um, I will bring back some information from that and see going forward if we want to do something like that. Um, because often, you know, we get this, the whole reason why this, this particular one, that narration I were discussing is so late is that they didn't know how to submit for reimbursement. And it often happens. People say we've sent this and we, we get back to them and say, yes, but you didn't do this, this, and this. So, um, kind of think about whether it's a good idea for us to do that, to like have a grantee zoom session to go over reimbursements. Short of that, we can also give them a link on the procedures. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We should probably write it down and post it somewhere. So it's readily available to us. Can it be going off of that? What is it? Go ahead, Mary. I was just saying the example, uh, we can't add it to the acceptance letter because that comes from the state. Correct? Correct. Correct. And then, um, like maybe have like a mini information, information session about how to actually apply for the next cycle. And I just, we can, uh, if I'm not mistaken, Nuresh was, you were saying we have like $350, 350 for that. Yeah. For administrative fund. I think it's, I think it's 350 or so. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so, I mean, we can advertise it as a comment, learn about this thing, and then they will hear the experience from, uh, from the past grantees. I just think it's a good opportunity and it will incentivize other people in town who, you know, have ideas in mind, but looking for funds. Yeah. Um, you know, we can also possibly like have it, have WICAM also broadcast that it would just be helpful. You know, a lot of people don't even know about, uh, the council and the available grant. Maybe it could be a kind of a meet and greet with the grantees and we can offer some of those things. Yeah. So typically we ask a couple grantees to present, um, what they're planning to do, or if they've already done it by then kind of present what they've done. Um, but definitely we can, we can expand on it. Um, I'd love to hear your ideas and how to make this happen. So definitely bring all of those ideas and thoughts to the meeting next week. So we can talk about it. We don't have to like finalize everything next week. All I want to kind of think about is the date and then start planning for that, right?
