A child with a keen eye and lots of enthusiasm, Diana Paul often accompanied her mother to the salon and watched the stylists work. Inspired by the visits, she was determined to duplicate these techniques
at home. Eventually her mother agreed to ditch the salon so that her young daughter could experiment on her with cuts and color at home.
Fast forward to May, when Paul opened Hair by Diana, Wayland’s newest
full-service hair salon at 76 Main St. It offers customers a quiet, stylish space and an array of services without the crowd. If you prefer peace and quiet, the salon features a more personalized environment.

Paul was initially drawn to Wayland because of the town’s location. Many of her customers come from surrounding towns and Wayland was the perfect, centralized spot. When originally visiting the shop, she was also enticed by the space and the large window overlooking Main Street. One of Paul’s favorite things about working in Wayland has been looking
out and seeing the many smiling people milling by.

I have met many wonderful new clients here,” she said. Paul formally honed her techniques while majoring in Cosmetology at Keefe Tech. As a teen she worked as a cosmetology assistant instructor in the cosmetology room and also taught summer camp. After graduation, she continued her classes and became a color expert who trained other stylists. Paul is an expert in all techniques for all hair types but admits that her favorite service is providing highlights.

She offers a vast variety of services from cuts to color, extensions and blowouts. Hair by Diana also uses and sells an organic product line called Loma, which is helpful for people with allergies or sensitive scalps. Whether customers are coming in for a cut and color for a special occasion, or are visiting to create a brand new look, Paul listens carefully to what her customers want.

“It is important to me to make strong connections with my clients so that they leave with their desired look,” said Paul, who has been a hairstylist for over 20 years, having previously worked in various salons in MetroWest and Newbury Street in Boston.
