Road is a dangerous commuter cut-through

To the Editor:

I live at 53 Sherman’s Bridge Road. Residents of Sherman’s Bridge Road are a neighborhood and enjoy it, except it has become a thru-way for commuters, commercial vehicles, and school buses.
Sherman’s Bridge Road has two seriously dangerous sections: from the bridge to my home, and the junction of Sherman’s Bridge Road and Alpine to Route. 126. Sudbury has a similar dangerous section at the junction of Lincoln and Weir Hill roads.
Every weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. our road backs up past my home. The Town administration and DPW have not acknowledged this situation.
Below are a few of the topics the neighbors are actively asking the town and DPW to address and understand.

  1. Out of control traffic.
  2. The bridge repair and design and how it impacts traffic.
  3. Respect the historic wood design of the bridge.
  4. Add a second walkway to the south side for pedestrian safety.
  5. Complete the sidewalk from the crest of the hill down to the bridge.
  6. Acknowledge the 1971 Agreement.
  7. Our neighborhood requests for our ideas to be incorporated. They are sensible, well thought out, and respect our neighborhood.
  8. Budget, costs, expenses: I have read many times that there is no budget, while also vastly different costs are offered. This is nonsense.

There has to be a formal budget as required to receive State funds and to work within the Town, and between the two towns.
