Ann Morgan Rowan, 80, formerly of Wayland, died peacefully on Sept. 21, 2026, in Alexandria, Va. She is survived by her children, Alayne (Dan) Rowan and Megan (Dave) Drane; grandchildren Rowan, Masie and Remy; sister Charlotte; brother- and sister-in-law Steve and Ellen; nieces Heather, Hope and Jamie; and nephews David, Carl and Chuck.
A burial, followed by a celebration of life, will be held Nov. 7 at North Cemetery in Wayland.
She married David Rowan on Jan. 18, 1975. They raised their two daughters in Wayland and were married until his death in 1995. In 2015, she moved to Alexandria, where she lived next door to her grandchildren.
A lifelong theater lover, she worked for the Children’s Studio Theater Troupes in Wayland. In Wayland she volunteered with the Community Emergency Response Team, the Council on Aging, the Senior Center, hospice and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed singing in choirs, gardening, the New England Patriots, Celtic services at St. Aidan’s Church and her family’s annual trip to Sandy Island Family Camp.
Born May 22, 1946, in New Jersey to Beatrice and Charles Morgan, she graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in theater and a minor in philosophy. She worked in television production in Detroit and Boston, including as promotion manager at WCVB-TV in Needham, and later spent 10 years as a medical transcriber.
