These reports are incidents from police and fire logs that are of public interest.  Not included, for instance, are over 110 other incidents from this past week, such as medical incidents, motor vehicle stops, accidental 911 calls, and false alarms.

Monday, July 21

8:17 a.m. — A motor vehicle accident with possible injury was reported on Old Connecticut Path near Boston Post Road.

8:14 p.m. — A 911 caller reported a two-car accident on Pemberton Road at Commonwealth Road.  One person was transported to the hospital.

Tuesday, July 22

6:29 a.m. — A police officer reported that he moved a bag of trash from the roadway to the sidewalk at 97 Boston Post Road; Mass Highway was notified.

10:25 a.m. — Natick police called requesting assistance locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident a week before. Police determined the operator of the car and notified Natick police.

1:20 p.m. — Needham police requested and received help getting a Wayland resident involved in a hit-and-run earlier in the day in Needham to contact them.   

Wednesday, July 23

5:49 a.m. — A police officer reported a dead raccoon on Boston Post Road near Winthrop Road. Mass Highway was notified.

12:27 p.m. — A 911 caller reported a two-car accident at Pinebrook Road and Old Connecticut Path, resulting in two people being taken to the hospital and both cars being towed.

4:36 p.m. — A motor vehicle crash at School Street and Commonwealth Road involving two cars was called in by 911. An injured party was transported to the hospital. 

6:26 p.m. — A caller from Concord Road at East Road reported a solicitor in the area, operating a black Mercedes sedan. An officer spoke with the operator and advised the party.

Thursday, July 24

1:18 p.m. — Several 911 calls reported a fallen tree on Glezen Lane, with wires pulled down and fire. Eversource was called to the scene. 

3:26 p.m. — Weston police requested assistance locating a suspect regarding an incident in their town. Weston and Wayland officers located the party and took them into custody.

3:53 p.m. — A caller reported that a possibly sick or injured hawk was observed for two hours at the Lakeview Cemetery. Police confirmed and contacted Allison Webber (bird rehabilitator).  

4:02 p.m. — A 911 caller reported a three-car motor vehicle accident on Commonwealth Road.  No injuries were reported.

4:10 p.m. — A 2-car traffic accident at the Coach Grill Restaurant (55 Boston Post Road) was called in via 911. There were no injuries.  

7:10 p.m. — A caller from Rich Valley Road reported that a tree was down and wires were involved.  Eversource was notified, and the road was closed.

Friday, July 25

9:06 a.m. — A resident of Glezen Lane telephoned to report a low-hanging wire across her driveway. Verizon was notified.

Saturday, July 26

9:27 a.m. — A 911 caller requested assistance with possible controlled substance activity in the house.  

9:42 a.m. — A caller from Hamlen Woods reported that a pitbull puppy was following him and his dogs in the woods, with no owner evident. Police took custody of the dog, awaiting the arrival of animal control.

12:46 p.m. — A resident of Plain Road called to report a large branch on the wires. Eversource was notified.

1:38 p.m. — Chelsea police informed Wayland police that they had located a resident’s wallet. Police attempted to deliver the message.

2:16 p.m. — A report was received of a large tree on the wires on Stonebridge Road. Eversource was notified.

9:02 p.m. — A 911 caller from Water Row and Old Sudbury Road reported erratic operation of a car.  Police arrested the driver, Tianyu Zhang, 44, of Dorchester,  on charges of OUI.  

Sunday, July 27

12:54 a.m. — A radio report said that a mailbox from Boston Post Road appears to have been struck and is in the middle of the roadway. It was moved next to the post.

10:26 a.m. — A caller from Lillian Way reported that there were three cars parked by the new construction site, and they could hear power tools in the woods. Police found that it was the Appalachian Mountain Club and Wayland Conservation clearing a pathway.

11:47 a.m. — A Squirrel Hill Road resident called 911 because carbon monoxide was detected in the home.  Gas was shut off, and National Grid was notified. The house was ventilated.

11:13 p.m. — A two-vehicle accident occurred at Temple Shir Tikva (141 Boston Post Road.  Both cars were towed.

Monday, July 28

2:45 p.m. — Police assisted with a disabled motor vehicle at Main Street and Commonwealth Road.  

Tuesday, July 29

3:15 p.m. — A 911 caller reported that a large truck hit the canopy at the Sunoco Station at 78 Boston Post Road The officer stated the damage is minor and the parties will handle it privately.

3:34 p.m. — A person walked into the station to report that a youth on an electric scooter was struck by a vehicle near the Wayland Library. No injury was reported.

5:20 p.m. — An accident involving two vehicles at the Lakeview Cemetery was called in by 911.  Three people refused transport to the hospital.

10:07 p.m. — A report of a tree limb blocking the roadway on Old Connecticut Path was received via 911. The limb was moved to the side of the road before the officer’s arrival. DPW was notified.

Wednesday, July 30

9:45 p.m. — A 911 caller from the Wayland Community Pool (258 Old Connecticut Path) stated that a male with dreads, carrying a backpack tried all the doors before jumping over the fence to the pool area. Police checked the area, the building, and Wayland High School, but no one was located.

Thursday, July 31

9:06 a.m. — A Woodridge Road resident reported an odor of gas at the meter. The gas company was notified. Zero readings were found in the house. The Fire Department located the source as the water heater and shut it down.

12:44 a.m. — A resident of Riverview Circle reported that the house drop wire was arcing. Eversource was notified and arrived shortly.

4:50 p.m. — A 911 call from Happy Hollow School reported a large tree leaning on wires. Eversource was notified.

7:18 p.m. — A large tree was reported down across Glezen Lan, with wires hanging.  Eversource was notified.

Friday, August 1

5:02 a.m. — A report was received by 911 of a raccoon being struck by a car on Boston Post Road near Spring Hill Road.

8:32 a.m. — A call from Hampshire Court reported a tree down in the road. DPW was notified.

6:30 p.m. — A 911 call was received from a woman who reported her 15-year-old son was struck by a vehicle while on his electric scooter. It was determined that the youth was not hit by the car, but instead had braked hard for the vehicle and was injured in the process. The vehicle operator had checked on the youth, who initially said he was okay. The child was transported to the hospital.

Saturday, August 2

10:53 a.m. — DPW was notified about illegal dumping along Concord Road near Bow Road.  

Sunday, August 3, 2025

10:48 a.m. — A 911 caller from Draper Road reported loud screaming. It was found to be a neighbor who had hurt his arm; he declined medical attention.  

12:38 p.m. — A caller reported that a group of seven intoxicated people was giving the staff at the Town Beach a hard time. Police responded and removed the parties.
