The Wayland Post is buzzing with excitement and for good reason. We’re overjoyed to announce that our volunteer-driven nonprofit newspaper has reached its 200th sustaining member, pushing our total annual donations and ad revenue to $105,923. This milestone not only celebrates community generosity but also brings us one step closer to maintaining a thriving local news source right here in Wayland.
Less than two months ago, we cheered about our 144th sustaining member, with $84,000 raised in the first five weeks. Today, your continued support has deepened our conviction that we live in a town that values meaningful connections, transparent communication, and a shared civic spirit. Simply put, Wayland cares.
Every other Friday, The Wayland Post arrives in the mailboxes of all 5,380 Wayland households—free of charge—packed with local stories, investigative features, and event spotlights. Your feedback has been truly inspiring: many of you have reached out with story tips, volunteered time and talents, or donated funds to help sustain our mission. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every contribution directly powers the work we do.
Our vision includes growing into a dedicated team of three full-time staff (an editor, assistant editor, and writer) and adding part-time roles for sales, graphics, and technical support. Armed with greater capacity, we can dive deeper into town government decisions, public school updates, and community sports coverage—topics you’ve told us matter most. In time, we hope to move from a bi-weekly schedule to a weekly publication.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing businesses and organizations stepping up as local advertisers. We give heartfelt thanks to Livindi, Forever Slender, State Road Auto Body & Garage, US Siding and Roof, Nicolette Mascari of Rutledge Properties, DaveTech, Eileen Balicki of Advisors Living, Dr. Kimberly Buckman of MDVIP, Saxonville Burrito, Jody and Joel Dinan of Coldwell Banker, Democratic Caucus, and Leah Hart of Coldwell Banker. Their partnership, alongside your donations, helps us inch closer to our annual budget goal of $425,000.
How can you help? You can become a sustaining member for as little as $120 per year, volunteer at waylandpost.org/volunteer, or spread the word to friends and neighbors. Local journalism is essential to keeping our community informed, engaged, and united.
From all of us at The Wayland Post, thank you for your belief in homegrown reporting. Together, we’re forging a bright future for local journalism—one reader, one donation, and one advertiser at a time.
