Donna L. Muzzy

Donna L. Muzzy, 82, died peacefully on Sept. 22, 2026, surrounded by her family, following complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

Born Sept. 8, 1944, in Shelbyville, Indiana, she moved with her family to Holden, where she met Greg Muzzy in high school. They were married for 60 years.

She is survived by her children, Chris Muzzy, Scot Muzzy and Beth Markell; and grandchildren Kyla, Kendall, Camryn, James, Emma and Theo. She was predeceased by her husband, Greg, and her brother, Robert Eastman.

Mrs. Muzzy earned a nursing degree from the University of Massachusetts and began her career with the Boston Visiting Nurse Association. After her first child was born in 1969, she stayed home to raise her family, serving as a Girl Scout troop leader and hosting dinners for the Wellesley Raiders football team. She later worked as a school nurse and as a preschool teacher at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church preschool.

She was an active member of the Wellesley Service League, serving as its president from 1985-86, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, clothing and toy drives and the Wellesley Food Pantry. She and her husband joined Wellesley Hills Congregational Church in 1977, where she sang in the clearing fields and building the walls was choir and took part in Senior Fellowship.

In the early 1990s, she and her husband helped establish the Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships in Boston and Key West, Fla. The couple also spent time in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, where they were longtime members of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
