An 85-year-old Wayland man has been cited following a Saturday morning crash that left a 2-year-old child injured in Southborough, according to local police.

Officers responded to the area of 33 Main St. around 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 27 after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck pedestrians in a crosswalk. Investigators determined that a family of four was crossing the street when an SUV driven by Thomas Turner of Wayland failed to slow down and hit the father and his young son.

The child was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The father was not injured. Police said Turner will be cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a crosswalk violation.

Authorities also filed an immediate threat license suspension request with the Registry of Motor Vehicles, which could result in Turner’s driver’s license being revoked pending a review.

Southborough police did not release additional information about the family involved but said the investigation remains ongoing.
