Municipal Meeting Recaps

Economic Development Committee

Route 20 zoning changes are now being targeted for spring 2028, Town Planner Robert Hummel told the Economic Development Committee on Oct. 16. He said the remaining work, public outreach and hearings could not reasonably be completed for spring 2027.

The long-delayed Shared Streets agreement had been signed, clearing the way for rebidding. Two firms responded to a separate request for qualifications for Route 20 curb-cut and sidewalk engineering. A working group was reviewing the responses, with a goal of contracting by year’s end and proceeding with design work in 2027.

Members continued preparing recommendations on a split property tax rate and meals-tax revenue for the Select Board. The proposals remained drafts.

Committee member S. Alihan Polat demonstrated an interactive parcel map combining state geographic data with town zoning information, assessed values and environmental constraints. Polat said the tool cost nothing to develop and could help identify sites for further review. It had not been publicly released or reviewed by the town’s GIS department.
