A celebration of comfort and thanks
The Claypit Hill PTO celebrated Wayland’s first responders during First Responder Appreciation Week, Sept. 9–11, with treat drops, cards, and thank-you messages from students and families.
On Sept. 10, the school welcomed School Resource Officer Shane Bowles and Wayland’s comfort dog, Archie, for a special Archie Day celebration. Students had the chance to thank them for the comfort and connection they bring to the community.
Archie is a 2½‑year‑old English lab from Boonefield Labradors in Rindge, N.H. Archie and Officer Bowles trained with Animal Assisted Therapy Services. Archie passed his final exam at Holy Cross College, Officer Bowles said. The team visits all the Wayland schools every week. He said they “try to put as many smiles on kids’ faces as possible.”
