Wayland residents came together in style Dec. 6, as the Wayland Community Action Network (WaylandCAN) hosted A Roaring Night of Connection at Sandy Burr Country Club, drawing over 100 community members for an evening of celebration, dialogue, and fundraising. The event was a resounding success, raising vital funds to support future guest speakers, educational programming, and the community mural project.

The night began with live music by the Wayland High School Jazz Band, setting a warm and festive tone as guests participated in a facilitated conversation designed to make new connections in town. As the evening continued, attendees filled the dance floor to a live DJ, and celebrated a shared commitment to strengthening community bonds.

All proceeds from the event directly support WaylandCAN’s mission to foster belonging and engagement throughout Wayland. Funds raised will help bring nationally recognized facilitators to town and advance plans for a mural of hope at the Wayland Community Pool, the site of two past incidents of hateful vandalism.

Founded in 2023 in response to hate crimes in Wayland, WaylandCAN has become a powerful force for compassion and action. A Roaring Night of Connection reflected both the organization’s momentum and the community’s desire to stand together—proving that when neighbors gather with purpose, positive change follows.

Sponsors who made this event possible included Middlesex Savings Bank, the Gowdy Group, Arte Salon, btone Wayland, Wayland Dental, Nicolette Mascari, Gina Anderson, DSR CPA, Peace Nguyen,, and The Villa
