Donald Sumner McSweeney, of Wayland, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, which he faced with extraordinary grace and unwavering strength. He was just 41 years old and was taken far too soon.
Don is survived by the love of his life, Jackie, whom he cherished and who never left his side throughout his illness, and his children, Freddy, Grace, and June, who were the center of his world and his greatest source of pride. He is also survived by his loving parents, Fred and Cheryl McSweeney and his sister, Meagan.
He also leaves his nephews, Brody, Connor, JJ, Cameron, and Scottie; his niece, Natalie; his sisters-in-law, Katie (Chris) and Mary (Kevin); his father- and mother-in-law, Joe and Barbara Doyle; and his grandmother, June Greene, all of whom he loved dearly. He will also be deeply missed by countless friends and extended family members whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing him.
