David Charles Hunter

David Charles Hunter, 74, of West Wareham, died Sept. 24, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Barbara (Akins) Hunter and the son of the late Charles Ellsworth and Anne Marie (Blondin) Hunter.

In addition to his wife of 29 years, he leaves a daughter, Heather L. DeWitt, and her husband, Derek, of Cheshire, Conn.; grandchildren Brandon, Jason and Matthew DeWitt; brothers Bruce Hunter and his wife, Beverly, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Charles Hunter and his wife, Kristine, of Norton; and sisters MaryAnne Doyon of Clearwater, Fla.; Janet Hunter and her husband, Jeffrey Skaros, of Grafton, Wis.; Barbara Spinney and her husband, John, of Norfolk; and Dr. Nancy Corliss and her husband, Jordan Busch, of Wayland. He also leaves nieces, nephews and his dog, Buddy.

Born in Wareham, he lived there his whole life and graduated from Wareham High School in 1969. He worked as a master plumber for his father’s company, Charles E. Hunter Company, Inc., founded in 1970, and took it over in 1990. He retired in 2018.

He was a life member of the Wankinquoah Rod & Gun Club, enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing, and was a longtime Little League coach. He attended St. Patrick’s Church and ushered at St. Anthony’s. He was a fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins.
