14-Year-Old Resident Named as Foundation’s “Honored Hero”

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation named Neal Mohiman an “Honored Hero” in March. Despite his challenge in dealing with Crohn’s disease in the last five years, Neal is determined to use his journey to inspire and support others.

Crohn’s disease is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes chronic inflammation of the digestive tract, typically in the small and large intestines. It’s a lifelong condition that can cause a range of symptoms, including abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss and fatigue. 

In a Crohn’s & Colitis publication, Neil said that as an “Honored Hero,” he shares his story to raise awareness for and highlight the vital work of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.

“I hope Take Steps will help raise more awareness for IBD and that one day we will be able to find a cure,: he said. Neal added that he hopes to become a doctor, “so that I can help other kids who may be going through the same experiences that I have had. My hope with that foundation is to raise awareness. It will continue to grow and support other kids and much-needed research to one day find a cure.”
