Ann Willard Bozdogan, 84, of Weston, passed away peacefully at home Oct. 15. She was the devoted wife of Kirkor (“Kirk”) Bozdogan. Ann is survived by Kirk; by her three brothers, Mark, David, and Bob Willard; by Bob’s wife Jane Hamilton; their son Ben and his wife Erin; and their daughter Hannah, her husband James Yawn, and their children Hazel and Ruth (Ruthie).
Ann was born Dec. 9, 1940 in Madison, Wisc., where she grew up in a closely-knit family. She graduated from West High School in Madison in 1958, and went on to receive her BS degree in elementary education at the University of Wisconsin in 1962. She played the viola in the University of Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra.
Ann and Kirk were married in 1962. They made their home in Weston. The center of Ann’s professional life was serving as an elementary school teacher in Wayland. She taught third grade at Claypit Hill Elementary School for 41 years. She was a highly respected, sought-after teacher, working as part of a dream team – a collaborative group of incredibly dedicated, purposeful, and caring teachers. Ann, throughout her life, lived the good life, nourished by her deep religion-infused values, a legacy of the Willard family rooted in New England history. Ann welcomed new ideas, read a great deal, kept an independent mind, and thought well of others. She was a positive, kind, thoughtful, and giving person, always with a big smile on her face. This is why she was loved by all who have met her.
