Obituary published on Legacy.com by South Carolina Cremation Society – West Columbia on Feb. 9, 2026.

Brian McHale, 68, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at his home in Gaston, South Carolina. Born on August 23, 1957 in Boston, Massachusetts, Brian grew up in East Boston, raised his daughter in Wayland, and eventually made Florida and then South Carolina his home, where he found comfort in a quieter life and familiar routines.

Brian was preceded in death by his loving parents, Tom and Louise McHale, and his older brother, Alan. He is survived by his former wife, Lisa McHale; his beloved daughter, Jillian Bennett, and her husband, Ed; and his three cherished grandsons, Edward, Brian, and James, who brought him great pride. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Robert McHale, and Robert’s family.

Brian was a gentle soul who appreciated his independence and was affectionately known as a bit of a loner, happiest during quiet evenings at home listening to his favorite true crime podcasts and watching reruns of the Golden Girls. Above all else, he was a fiercely devoted father and a steadfast protector of his only child, Jillian. His love for her was constant, unwavering, and evident to all who knew him.

Brian will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep loyalty to family, and the love he held for those closest to him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at a later date.
