Municipal Meeting Recaps

Surface Water Quality Committee approves pond treatment invoices

The committee voted 3-0 at the Oct. 27 meeting to approve payment of four invoices totaling $4,983.82 for pond treatment and testing. Chair Thomas Klem said he would seek a larger 2027 budget for Dudley Pond herbicide treatment, noting that the 2023 treatment cost more than $60,000. Members have not selected a treatment plan or settled on a funding request. Mechanical harvesting ended after nine weeks, requiring two weeks more than last year. Klem plans to seek U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service permission to extend Heard Pond water chestnut treatment onto adjacent federal parcels and ask about possible funding.

Next: Klem will seek a Select Board discussion; the committee meets Dec. 15.
