At its Aug. 19 meeting, the Conservation Commission opened a tree-clearing violation probe at 17 Glezen Lane. Conservation Administrator Linda Hansen told the commission Aug. 19 that the new owner of the six-acre parcel, which abuts North Cemetery and school property, removed roughly 85 trees without the required Chapter 193 permit, including some 30 to 36 inches in diameter. The owner missed an Aug. 10 filing deadline and submitted an incomplete application aimed at a future youth center, which Hansen rejected. Abutter Kate Hamilton of 10 Glezen Lane told commissioners a surveyor had said the owner believed an easement allowed youth-center traffic through the cemetery and that trucks were already being driven from cemetery land onto the parcel.
ConCom separately authorized a stormwater peer review for a proposed rebuild at 80 Oxbow Road and endorsed a $65,000 FY29 capital request to replace the department’s 2018 tractor.
