Municipal Meeting Recaps

Select Board

The board voted 5-0 on Monday to set the Annual Town Meeting for May 10-12, 2027, with a Town Election May 4, and 3-1-1 to keep the 6:30 p.m. start time. In a joint session with the School Committee, Finance Director Brian Keveny projected a fiscal 2028 revenue deficit of roughly $831,000 including a $200,000 cushion, growing to a cumulative three-year override figure of approximately $6.7 million. Superintendent David Fleishman said the district will seek $2 million for an MSBA feasibility study, up from $1 million, ahead of an April 2027 Statement of Interest. Member Doug Levine questioned whether an override is warranted “if we’re somewhere in the hundreds of thousands of dollars,” while member Christopher Reynolds warned of a “communications issue” from shifting numbers. The board also voted 5-0 to accept up to 12 Suffolk Law students at no cost to help draft Route 20 rezoning.
