The Town of Wayland has received $100,475 from the Mass. Department of Energy Resources Green Communities Division. The grant will enable the town to continue its efforts to improve energy efficiency and advance the goals outlined in the Climate Action Mobilization Plan. The grant will support:
• $39,224 for the installation of LED lighting at Town Building
• $16,251 for the installation of LED lighting at Wayland Free Public Library
• $30,000 for the purchase of a town electric vehicle work van;
• $15,000 for the purchase of a police electric vehicle.
Wayland was one of the 57 municipalities chosen to receive a Green Communities Competitive Grant.
“Wayland is thrilled to receive this funding, which will be instrumental in helping us reduce our energy use and continue to electrify our town vehicles, consistent with Wayland’s Climate Action Mobilization Plan,” Ellen Tohn, chair of the Energy and Climate Committee, said in a press release.
