Because trees contribute to a clean water supply and flood control, tree protection and removal is regulated through the Town of Wayland’s Chapter 193 Stormwater and Land Disturbance Bylaw.
A permit may be required if a project’s tree removal plan meets certain minimum criteria. Refer to Wayland’s Chapter 193 Stormwater and Land Disturbance Bylaw Regulations for more information.
In addition to supporting stormwater management, trees also improve air quality, keep neighborhoods cool in increasingly hot summers, reduce noise pollution, provide wildlife habitat and mitigate the impacts of climate change by sequestering carbon.
